Labels can be so confusing these days, and even when a product has the word “natural” on the label it can be difficult to know whether it is really the case. Trying to read the list of ingredients on the back of any beauty product can be extremely difficult with a seemingly endless stream of words which are impossible to pronounce.
So what are the best ingredients to watch out for when buying natural skin care products, or even making them at home?
Coconut Oil – this is one of the most versatile of all natural beauty products, as well as being delicious when added to recipes. It can be used on the hair as well as the skin as a perfect, natural cleanser, makeup remover and moisturizer and can even help to heal scars and wounds. It is great for topical use as well as internally, helping allround with health and looks.
Raw Honey – is a super food and a super addition to any beauty regime. It is a fabulous source of enzymes, nutrients, acids and skin boosting vitamins and makes a superb moisturizer, helps to fight rashes and allergies and reduce the appearance of scars. It’s also extremely easy to use – a half teaspoon warmed in the hands and spread gently and evenly across the face, leave and rinse off with clean, warm water ten minutes later for a superb facial boost. It can also be used to exfoliate when mixed with natural oats.
Avocado – another super food with superb benefits, this amazing fruit is packed with vitamins and is equally beneficial when used topically or internally as part of the diet. A fabulous face mask can be easily whipped up using fresh avocado and combining it with honey or some essential oil. This will leave the skin feeling beautifully hydrated, soft and dewy.
Aloe Vera – this is used in many beauty products and is generally associated with sun burn healing but is also great for fighting inflammation, soothing itching and redness. It’s incredible to know that Aloe Vera contains more than 70 active ingredients including vitamins, amino acids, minerals, enzymes, fatty acids and anti-inflammatories – there’s no wonder it is so effective at healing the skin.
Almond Oil – is another fabulous addition to natural skin care products, not only smelling great but also because it has numerous antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. This is one of the reasons why almond oil is regularly utilized as the carrier oil for essential oils which are used to treat skin rashes, dryness or acne naturally.
The truth is that things which are good for the health when they are put into the body are often just as beneficial when they are used topically on the skin. It cannot be stressed enough just how important it is to follow a healthy diet, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep and regular exercise – it really does all help to create the perfect package for a beautiful, healthy body, inside and out.
